One night at a friend’s apartment in Nashville, Tenn. I wrote these words on a napkin “If heartaches were treasure and pain could be sold… If dreams were made of silver and promises of gold…. If teardrops were diamonds measured in lies…. I’d have a broken heart worth millions and be the richest fool alive…

I carried this chorus around with me, in my pocket, for about three months.  On a trip to Montana with Don Mealer, we finished “The Richest Fool Alive” with our friend Kostas at his home.

Patty Loveless recorded an album about her Kentucky roots called “Mountain Soul”.  I am proud to be a part of this historical album.  Thanks Patty!
