I met Vern Gosdin at Jim, “nowhatImeanVern” Varney’s home in White House, Tenn. Jim Varney’s claim to fame was the character Ernest P. Worrel in the Walt Disney movie “Ernest Goes to Camp”  I was living with Jim in White House, Tenn.  just before Jim died. Jim was one of my best friends in Nashville and gave me a place to lay my head while I was struggling in the music business.  Vern Gosdin, Jim Varney and I would get together on Sunday mornings at Jim’s home and write Gospel songs.  This song, “Maybe Then I’ll Be Over You” is the result of one of those magical and memorable Sunday morning writing sessions.  God Bless you Jim Ol’ Buddy.  I know the Good Lord was smiling when you walked through the gates of Heaven, “nowhatImean”?
